New exhibition: Yarra Birrarung The Ribbon Through Heidelberg

Posted on Tuesday, 27th October 2026 by Janine Rizzetti

Our new exhibition - Yarra Birrarung: The Ribbon Through Heidelberg - is now open. It looks at the Yarra Birrarung more generally and its effect on Melbourne’s development, combined with a more local focus on the geographic, social and conservation aspects of the river in the Heidelberg District.

This display combines panels from Dr Judith Buckrich’s exhibition ‘Yarra Birrarung: Artists, Writers and the River’ (which was on display at the Royal Historical Society of Victoria in 2024-5) with photos, maps and objects from Heidelberg Historical Society’s collection.

We’re open every Sunday in November between 2.00 and 5.00 p.m. (last entry 4.30 p.m). Entry is $5.00, with members and children under 16 free
